Working in the Zebrafish Development and Disease Models Research Group in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology, you will be involved in research focussed on understanding how circadian rhythms influence the host response to infection.

You will be responsible for performing experimental techniques using a larval zebrafish infection model to investigate how the circadian clock in the liver helps fight bacterial infections.

You will also be involved in the day-to-day management of the laboratory which will involve ordering of consumables and ensuring the laboratory remains compliant with HSNO, MPI and animal ethics requirements.

Skill and experience

Who we are looking for:

You will have a BSc or MSc in Biomedical Science or in a related discipline. A high level of knowledge and practical skills in at least some of the following techniques: zebrafish husbandry, real-time RT-qPCR, bioinformatics, microinjection, whole-mount in situ hybridisation, RNA-seq, immunohistochemistry and/or cloning. Previous experience in a zebrafish and/or circadian biology research lab would be beneficial.

You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a research team. Strong organisational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to take the initiative are required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with good computer literacy.
