This is a full-time, fixed-term role, ending on 03/06/2025.As an adviser within Nga Ratonga Manaaki Rangahau o Te Tumu Herenga, you will provide specialist guidance and support for researchers, doctoral candidates and post-graduate students engaged in research. You will provide this support from a Maori perspective, including Maori research methodologies, Matauranga Maori and tikanga Maori, aligned with the University's strategic research goals in Taumata Teitei.The role is primarily an on-campus in-person role but has the flexibility to work from home two days per week.We are actively engaged in working partnering with our Kaiarahi and Te Pou Rahui, our Maori staff network, to strengthen our knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te reo me ona tikanga, and te ao Maori. We are looking for people who also value these and who are keen to learn.The salary range for this role is$68,600 - $84,700 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.You will be working with a team of advisers committed to supporting researchers across the university to develop and improve the skills they need to be successful.The Research Services team offers a broad range of support to researchers, doctoral candidates and post-graduate students. Our services encompass support for publishing strategies including open access and research data management, finding and managing information, and advice around the use of metrics and research profiles.We provide advice via online resources, consultations, and a programme of Research Skills workshops. We also partner with other research support service divisions across the University.We are looking for people who are passionate about providing support to staff and research students and who can bring creative thinking into our team.You will have a degree qualification in Maori or indigenous studies, information management, information science or relevant discipline. You will be comfortable working in a blended service environment and be willing to learn new skills. You will be enthusiastic, innovative and enjoy working and collaborating as part of a team to meet our priorities.You will be able to demonstrate some, or all, of the following:Understanding and knowledge of tikanga and te reo Maori, or working towards this.Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to research in tertiary and/or other sectors.Knowledge of data sovereignty issues relating to Maori and indigenous research.Knowledge of Maori and other indigenous research methodologies.Demonstrated creative and critical thinking, ability to generate ideas to solve local problems and recommend improvements to current work practices.Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, and a desire to learn.Ability to see things from another person's perspective and actively seek out and act on feedback to improve knowledge, skills and behaviour.Me pehea te tuku tono | How to applyApplications must be submitted online, by Sunday 5 May 2024 to be considered.
