Research Scientist (Power & Energy Systems Modelling), IHPC Research Scientist (Power & Energy Systems Modelling), IHPC Other (Information & Communication Technology)Research Scientist (Power & Energy Systems Modelling)We are looking for researchers who have a passion for power and energy systems and advancing the growth of sustainable energy. They will develop models and simulations of power and energy systems, analyse their resiliency and efficiency, and optimise their planning, operations, and deployment particularly to address problems relating to the renewable energy transition.Successful candidates will work together with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop innovative solutions to support decisions around power system planning, energy economics, electricity markets and policy. The project will also involve collaborations with external organisations such as government planners and industry practitioners in order to move research and technical capabilities closer into real-world policy and planning practices.Key requirementsPh.D in Electrical Engineering or Operations Research, or other related fieldsProficient in programming in Python, and/or Java/C++Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work individually as well as in a team in a fast-paced dynamic research environmentPreferred requirements and experienceCandidate demonstrating a good understanding of the power systems economics, including distribution and transmission operator decision-making processes in different regulatory environments would be highly preferred.Experience in power system analysis and optimisation, including and not limited to balanced and unbalanced power flow, OPF, economic dispatch, unit commitment.Experience in usage of optimization solvers - CPLEX, GUROBI, GLPK, etc.Experience in simulation with power systems modelling tools (PSS/E, PLEXOS, OpenDSS, GridLabD, PowerFactory).Experience in analysis tools or integrated assessment platforms or macro energy systems modelling tools (MARKAL/TIMES, OSeMOSYS, SESAME, etc).Company information Registration No.T08GB0002CReport this job advert Don't provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.Researching careers?
