About the opportunity We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Research Scientist to join the team at our Fonterra Research and Development Centre in Palmerston North. This position will report to the Health and Nutrition Science Manager and part of the wider R&D Advanced Nutrition family who are responsible for guiding the business to deliver superior nutrition based on sound science, leading and championing consumer awareness, understanding and accessibility to nutrition and advocating dairy nutrition to enhance health and wellness.
As a Research Scientist, you will join a dedicated team of scientists and nutritionists responsible for supporting business strategy through the creation of science-based nutrition and health benefits.
Your focus is to actively enhance the health and wellbeing of our consumers and make a positive impact in their life. You will support Fonterra's commitment to maintaining high standards in research to safely deliver new technology development (NTD) and new product development (NPD), to produce sustained commercial value and enhance Fonterra's reputation.
Other key responsibilities include: Develop & manage with partners, health research protocols/clinical studies to bring health and nutrition science into both our current and new breakthrough innovations. This work is integral to the development of claims for our business. Lead the development and management of health research and innovation roadmaps through your science expertise and insights and deliver value to the business through the management of nutritional interventions. Explore new opportunities for health and nutrition benefits via innovative ways of working to take the research and development function into an exciting future. These include managing original research and conducting meta-analyses. About you With a PhD or master's degree in health and medical Science, Nutrition Science, Human Nutrition or Nutrition and Dietetics. You'll have a passion for R&D with significant research experience and running of clinical trials.
You'll be confident in your approach and can influence in a collaborative environment. You are a good communicator who builds rapport with ease. Regardless of experience, a deep interest in scientific thinking and methodology, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn quickly, and an ability to manage complexity and ambiguity whilst working independently or within cross-functional teams is a must.
You will also be a team player and enjoy the debate and breadth of thought and experiences that come from working in teams.
A few other key attributes will be: Experience in dairy, dairy science, metabolomics, genetics, microbiome, biostatistics, and future research or consumer technology, is of interest Good understanding of dairy proteins and their impact of health and wellbeing Experience in systematic reviews and meta-analyses is required Industry, project management and human intervention research experience with ICH-GCP guideline knowledge Practical R&D experience within related industries or academia Strong analytical, innovation, communication, and stakeholder management skills Please note you must have work eligibility for New Zealand to be considered for this position.
