Further information on NZPRI can be found through our website at nzpri.aut.ac.nz.We are seeking three Research Officers to collect qualitative data for a research project investigating the impacts and drivers of abuse of older people in New Zealand. The roles involve recruiting research participants for, and conducting, qualitative interviews with older people who have experienced elder abuse. Our focus is on Maori, Pacific, and European older people.We seek a Research Officer for each of the three ethnic groups to interview 20 people from that ethnic group. Interviews could be one-on-one or in group-based wananga or talanoa (Maori and Pacific methods of qualitative data collection, respectively) and will be conducted in research participants' homes or in other community settings.All three Research Officer roles are casual positions. The roles with Pacific and European older people are for up to 400 hours each, while the role with Maori older people is for up to 200 hours. Work is to be completed over June to August 2024. The roles are suited to postgraduate students.The candidate must have: A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (health, psychology, sociology, etc.).Previous experience with conducting interviews or with qualitative research methods.For the Maori and Pacific data collection, previous experience working directly with Maori and Pacific peoples.The ability to work flexible hours (that is, interview research participants at different days and times depending on what suits the participant).AUT is ranked among the fastest growing young universities, with nearly 29,000 students (See Times Higher Education ranking information at ).
