Other (Community Services & Development) We are seeking a dynamic Research Lead to support the Manager Pou Tikanga (Te Ahiko) in realizing the objectives of the Piringa Hapu Archives Strategy. As the Research Lead, you will drive the research unit of Te Ahiko, overseeing research and development efforts aligned with our cultural preservation goals. This role entails leading research in whakapapa, korero hitori, tikanga, and matauranga a hapu, while also contributing to the overall life of Te Piringa Hapu.Key Responsibilities:Design and lead research and matauranga projects within the Piringa Hapu Archiving strategic priorities.Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in research/archives and matauranga spaces, including hapu, marae, iwi, government entities, and research centers.Provide guidance and support to enhance the impact and quality of our research for hapu wellbeing.Support the Manager Pou Tikanga in securing and preserving our matauranga and oral histories.Assist in developing and managing a repository of hapu matauranga.Maintain strong relationships with whanau, Uri, team members, and stakeholders.Ensure research work adheres to budgetary constraints and compliance standards.Qualifications and Experience:Demonstrated experience in applied research and working within Maori communities.Experience in stakeholder management, particularly with kaumatua, hapu, and iwi.Proven track record in project leadership, planning, and balancing diverse stakeholder needs.Familiarity with archiving practices and technology for cultural preservation.Proficiency in Te Reo Maori and cultural protocols is desirable.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong research capabilities and effective planning skills.Ability to navigate uncertainty and develop innovative initiatives.Ethical conduct aligned with Hapu Authority values.Capacity to build and sustain meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders.About Us: The Hapu Authority Trust (Te Piringa Hapu) was established in 2019 with a dedication to advancing the wellbeing of Ngati Hinemanu, Ngai Te Upokoiri, Ngati Mahuika, and Ngati Honomokai by promoting social, cultural, and economic prosperity in Aotearoa through initiatives in education, cultural enrichment, finance, housing, employment, and advocacy.
