Research and Policy Director for Green Leaders' OfficeResearch and Policy Director for Green Leaders' OfficeResearch and Policy Director: Green PartyBring your advanced policy analysis skills and political nous to a leading role with the Greens in Parliament.Primary advisor to the party co-leaders and Caucus on all policy mattersLeading a small team of Policy & Research AdvisorsSomeone with experience in policy development and/or policy-based advocacyComprehensive knowledge of Parliamentary and Government policy processesThe Research and Policy Director is the primary advisor to the Green Party co-leaders and MPs on policy and Parliamentary matters.Working alongside the Chief of Staff, Communications Director, Outreach Director, and Kaitohu te Matawaka, you will play an active role in the management of the Green Party's parliamentary operation.This role leads the Green Party's Research and Policy team of which provides advice regarding legislation, policy, and other parliamentary matters. Experience managing staff is needed, and coaching and investing in the professional development of your team is important.The Research and Policy team is responsible for assisting MPs with oral and written questions, researching issues, providing analysis and advice on legislation and select committee business, liaising with civil society organisations, and researching and writing policy papers in portfolio areas. The team works with the communications team to ensure policy positions are communicated effectively.You will have advanced political and strategic nous, a thorough grasp of policy, understanding of the political media landscape, a strong understanding of Green Party principles and their relationship to one another, and knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te ao Maori.What you will bring to the role:Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and a proven track record of leading teams.Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Experience shaping political strategy and providing advice under pressure.Experience in policy development and/or advocacy.This is a Wellington-based 40 hour a week role with some flexibility required due to the nature of Parliament, and reports to the Chief of Staff.
