The RoleThe Regional Forester, North Island, is responsible for assisting the Regional Manager, North Island in all facets of forest planning and forest operations management from establishment through to pre-harvesting silviculture, forest protection and forest acquisitions. The Regional Forester, North Island will also collaborate with the Sr Technical & Resource Forester on various projects.Key Responsibilities:Assisting in the development of strategic and tactical plans and with acquisition projects.Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental, and other legislative requirements.Contractor management ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations.Assisting the Regional Manager, North Island in all aspects of forest establishment, silviculture management, forest health & fire risk management.Liaising and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders; building strong relationships.Key Requirements:Degree in Forestry or other relevant qualification.Previous experience working in a similar role is desirable.Ability to work collaboratively but also autonomously.Adaptability to deal with shifting demands and situations.Excellent communication skills both oral and written.Ability to liaise with individuals at all levels of the organisation.Solution focused with the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Good working knowledge of GIS.What's in it for you?You will become part of the small North Island team based in Tauranga where you will be subjected to a diverse range of tasks, exposure to both personal and professional development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a well-respected and successful organisation.
