Ranger Community Treaty Implementation (Fixed Term) at Department of Conservation, Rotorua Champion iwi aspirations as you partner with Ngati Rangitihi to fulfil our Treaty settlement obligations.$68,535 - $86,423, flexible working opportunitiesIf the land is well and the sea is well, the people will thrive. We put nature and people at the heart of our mahi, guided by te reo Maori, te ao Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
This role will help ensure that we as a district operations team maintain healthy positive working relationships with local iwi and meet our Treaty settlement obligations. The role will involve clarifying our obligations and identifying gaps in our delivery, then working with iwi and the DOC operations team to raise our collective understanding and capability.
The position will be focused on:
planning and coordinating joint conservation projectsdrafting management plans and agreementsintegrating a Te Ao Maori perspective into our operationsprioritising the long-term aspirations of whanau, hapu, and iwi in our biodiversity, recreation, and community programs.You will work closely with Ngati Rangitihi environmental leads to support their conservation aspirations and ensure DOC fulfils its obligations under the Ngati Rangitihi treaty settlement act.

Foster whanau, hapu and iwi aspirations while upholding Treaty principles.Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.Identify and address gaps in settlement implementation plans, ensuring alignment with district priorities.Analyse new Treaty settlements and collaborate with leadership to operationalise conservation and commercial ventures for iwi benefit.Facilitate legal interpretations of settlements and ensure implementation plans deliver on the intended outcomes.Coordinate regular engagement with whanau, hapu and iwi for collaborative development, review, and modification of agreements, plans, and frameworks.Support initiatives that empower whanau, hapu, and iwi to fulfil their kaitiaki responsibilities.Even if you don't tick all the boxes but believe your skills and experience closely align, then we still encourage you to apply.

The salary range for this position is $68,535 - $86,423 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
