Is your background in conservation, working with native flora and fauna? Are you skilled at field delivery and passionate about sharing your skills and knowledge with others? Does the idea of working across a diverse, wide open landscape, interlaced with glacial braided rivers appeal to you? If so, the beautiful Twizel/Te Manahuna District is calling you.
Project River Recovery is looking for an experienced person to join the biodiversity team based in the Twizel/Te Manahuna district. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to become part of a committed and professional biodiversity team, focussed on achieving high quality conservation outcomes.
As a Biodiversity Ranger, your focus across the district will be implementing work plans associated with Project River Recovery. You will be part of a motivated team with a focus on research and management associated with the protection and enhancement of braided river and wetland habitats, and their associated flora and fauna.
You will have responsibilities relating to:
threatened species management
ecosystem restoration
animal and plant pest control work programmes
advocacy for braided rivers and wetlands
liaison and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
The successful applicant will have:
a natural heritage or conservation management qualification
specialist management experience or qualifications in either threatened plants and/or species
relationship management skills
project and time management skills
excellent written and verbal communication skills
experience in operating online system software
a strong desire to learn new skills
ability to be able to work in some rugged environments
an ability to work and build successful relationships with Iwi, Whanau and Hapu to sustain and grow conservation
ability to work and build successful relationships and partnerships with the community, stakeholders, business and local government
skills and experience in working collaboratively with others to deliver and achieve conservation outcomes
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
