Your Impact As a QA Automation Engineer, your primary responsibility is to develop and maintain scripts for manual and automated tests to ensure a high level of quality. By using your industry experience and employing a variety of automation techniques, you will take the lead in implementing efficient test automation solutions. You'll help us to attain comprehensive test coverage by automating a significant portion of the testing process while considering factors such as return on investment and maintainability. Your natural desire to mentor and coach will help lift the quality capability of Storypark's engineers. Your eye for continuous improvement will see small but constant changes to the team's ability to test and deploy safely and quickly. This is a permanent role reporting into our Head of Engineering. Ideally, you'll be based in our Wellington CBD office twice a week. We also have the flexibility to consider applicants who are seeking working hours of less than 40 hours per week. What you'll do Automation Craft - Design, execute, monitor and maintain automated tests that are best suited to Ruby on Rails stack. You'll do this by setting up automation frameworks and crafting efficient test scripts while also staying on top of industry best practices. Engineering practices - Inspect and streamline existing quality practices within the teams enabling their success to deliver faster and safely. Quality Mindset - Help build and strengthen the culture of 'shift left quality' and 'quality is a shared responsibility' in the teams. You'll do this through leading quality conversations, mentoring others and creating meaningful documentation. Ownership and Accountability - Work to unblock your teams and take the lead on resolving issues related to automated tests, often keeping an active eye on logs of flakey tests. Leadership - Stay curious and demonstrate a high growth mindset. Nurture strong relationships and alignment with other engineering leaders in the organisation. What you'll bring Experience in Ruby on Rails testing, Javascript or similar. A strong commitment to high quality and operational excellence. A natural desire to connect, share knowledge, coach and mentor team members. Keen interest in exploring modern tools and frameworks to help us deliver faster and smarter. Solid knowledge of DevOps principles. Experience setting up automation frameworks from scratch. You have experience working with CI/CD tools - Github, TeamCity or similar. Solid understanding of bug tracking tools like JIRA and can demonstrate good bug logging practices. Experience in automation mobile testing would be a bonus!
