Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Pukenga | Lecturer (equivalent to tenured assistant professor) to join the Cultural Anthropology programme. We specifically seek applicants conducting innovative teaching and research in the Anthropology of Science and Technology Studies. The successful applicant must have a completed PhD in Cultural Anthropology or a similar discipline (including, but not limited to, Maori Studies, Pacific Studies, Indigenous Studies, or Science and Technology Studies). Additional expertise in matauranga Maori or Indigenous science is desirable, along with a regional specialization in Aotearoa, Asia, or the Pacific broadly conceived. This position will commence January 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development and delivery of core courses in the Cultural Anthropology programme.Develop new curricula and research in areas related to the anthropology of Science and Technology Studies.Supervise MA and PhD researchers to completion.Contribute to Haututanga/leadership, administrative roles, and engagement with the wider community.Be part of an active, collegial team committed to equity and diversity, and aspiring to research and teaching that engages matauranga Maori and upholds our responsibilities to te Tiriti o Waitangi.You will be a collaborative scholar-educator, committed to high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, who has an innovative independent research agenda in the anthropology of Science and Technology Studies. Maori, Pasifika, and Indigenous scholars are encouraged to apply.
Key requirements:
