Public Health Nurse - Waihi

Based Primarily in the Waihi Area. Community Services Hauraki Thames Coromandel (HTC)Permanent, Full-time 64 hours per fortnightWe currently have a vacancy 0.8 FTE for a Registered Nurse to join our Public Health Nursing Service. The position will be based in Waihi, working within the team to provide services to the whole of the HTC geographical area.This is a Monday to Friday service with hours between 8am - 4.30pm.Rural Public Health Nursing offers a challenging and complex nursing role within the community. A Public Health Nurse is required to be multi-skilled, with excellent assessment and communication skills and work autonomously.Public Health Nurses manage child health issues such as enuresis and encopresis and work with many health and community providers, including the education sector, child & family protection services & primary care. Relationship building is an essential part of the service.The Public Health Nurse Service provides the primary school based immunisation program twice yearly, PHN’s are authorised independent vaccinators.Familiarisation with, and use of electronic devices is an essential part of this role.An education and orientation programme will be provided.Current NZ Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate
Relevant experience in primary health care, child and family nursing
A passion for improving health outcomes for children and their families/whanau is essential and an ability to work within a variety of social demographics
The ability to understand and apply the Treaty of Waitangi principles to practice
Excellent communication skills
A demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team is vital for this role.
Proven assessment skills
Self-motivated with proven time management skills
A full current driver's licence and the ability to drive daily and long distances as required
Post graduate study is preferred but not essential
This position is not suitable for a new graduate nurse
