Te Whatu Ora Waitemata Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Services is the largest provider of Mental Health Services in New Zealand, serving a catchment population of approximately 600,000 people in the north and west and Rodney districts of Auckland. We have a comprehensive range of Mental Health Services and recognising the principles of Ti tiriti o Waitangi have developed culturally aware and responsive services, particularly for our Maori population. He Puna Waiora is a 39-bed acute admitting unit also providing 9 high care beds. The medical team within the unit is made up of four full time Consultant Psychiatrist/Medical Officers, three Registrars and two House Officers. There is a strong allied and nursing team all committed to achieving excellent outcomes for our tangata whai i te ora. There are opportunities to be involved in service development, service planning, and quality improvement initiatives. Teaching and supervision of junior doctors/students, involvement in clinical leadership and leading a multidisciplinary team are core functions for our Consultant Psychiatrists.
