The Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE) is at the forefront of innovation in education, working with partners in schools, early childhood settings, communities, government and beyond, constantly seeking new and improved ways to support Australia's education system.
Applications are invited for a Project Manager (0.6 FTE) for 12 months to assist lead investigator, Dr Jon Quach, in the conduct of the Mind@Play study. This project is funded via an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant and is based within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne and involves collaborations with Deakin University and Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.
The Mind@Play study will commence in 2019 and will be a randomised controlled trial of a mindfulness intervention for students in the first year of primary school. It will involve 22 primary schools in the Western area of metropolitan Melbourne. This RCT is aiming to examine the efficacy of providing teachers with professional development and support to deliver and integrate mindfulness strategies within their classrooms, and whether such an intervention has benefits for student cognitive, mental health and academic outcomes.
The project manager will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with the study, under the direction of Dr Jon Quach. Tasks will include supervising research assistants in Melbourne, ensuring ethics adherence, liaising with key stakeholders, developing project data collection materials (i.e. surveys), data management, recruiting and retaining participants, conducting basic data analyses and organising study team and stakeholder meetings.
As the successful applicant you will have completed your Honours/Masters in a related discipline and be able to demonstrate:
Outstanding organizational skills;
Meticulousness in data collection and data management
Quantitative and qualitative research skills
Experiencing in conducting objective child assessments in school settings, such as the Corsi and WRAT, and a
High level of professionalism, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy

Any offer of employment will be conditional upon a National police Clearance and maintenance of a valid Working with Children check.
