Community Engagement LibrarianWant to share your library skills in pastures new? Or are you looking to diversify and use your community engagement skills in a new sector? How about joining our awesome library team in the rapidly growing and conveniently situated Matamata-Piako District? At Matamata-Piako District Council Libraries we believe the way we do things really does make a difference in the lives of those who live in our district. We strive to provide an innovative, adaptable and integrated library service and our people are key in achieving this. We have a dynamic work environment with plenty of laughter and a friendly, welcoming and positive culture.The role involves communicating and promoting our library services to our communities through a variety of channels, forming partnerships with community groups, organising and leading outreach events, and co-ordinating events and programmes in the libraries. You would work closely with the District Library Manager, Community Engagement Library Assistant who you will help recruit, our three Team Leaders and the Technical Services Librarian.The successful applicant will have exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, along with good customer service knowledge and experience. You will have a recognised Library qualification or a qualification in education or marketing/communications. This position requires a commitment to continuous improvement, so some experience with gathering feedback and evaluating the impact of services is an advantage. The varied nature of this role makes excellent time management skills and the ability to work across teams in the libraries and across the organisation are essential.The skills and enthusiasm to assist in leading our team into the exciting future of public library services is a must as we are continuously looking to improve and develop. For example, we are working towards strengthening our knowledge and capabilities in Matauranga Maori and using co-design to inform future services and programmes.Hours: Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, with some evening and weekend work to attend events and outreach opportunities.Applications close midday Tuesday, 16 April 2024.
