Opportunity: The Society for Ecosystem Restoration in Northern BC (SERNbc) and Yun Ghunli (Carrier term meaning 'guardians of the land'); a subcommittee of the Society comprised of a collaboration of individuals from Nadleh Whut'en, Stellat'en First Nation, SERNbc, the Ministry of Forests and Timber Licensees who are operating locally; are working towards building capacity towards delivery of several Ecosystem Restoration Plans within the Omineca Region.These ERPs address ecological integrity and resilience in the context of climate change and regional development history. Yun Ghunli's collective intent is to have a positive impact on the future state of the natural landbase and the ecosystem services it provides.Our hope is that this position will help facilitate on-the-ground action through the implementation of the ERPs. Expansion of the subcommittee to other First Nations as well as to other impacted areas and newly developing Ecosystem Restoration Plans will be included in the scope of the work requested.Role: We require the services of a self-motivated, determined individual to:Solidify relationships between partners and other interested parties and individuals such as the University of Northern BC, resource districts, funding organizations, First Nations Communities and other potential interested parties, organizations, programs, and industrial interests.Co-ordinate communications within and outside of Yun Ghunli.Identify implementation priorities with Yun Ghunli and coordinate or/and initiate projects.Further develop already existing or create new restoration concepts. Formal delivery protocols may be documented and provided for review.With assistance, co-ordinate contracts to assist with implementation and build further capacity.Work within support network to coordinate implementation of the ERPs in order to achieve on-the-ground results.Initiate and oversee funding, budgets and coordinate and communicate project delivery.Build funding proposals to appropriate organizations.Fulfill funding requirements.Report out on activities as required by Yun Ghunli.More specific work functions and guidance provided through coordination of the membership of Yun Ghunli.Benefits: This is a contract for one year with possibility for extension for multiple years depending on performance and funding. Negotiated rates will be determined through the hiring process though it is requested that expectations be provided in the cover letter.
