STRABAG Australia Pty Ltd is currently looking for a Project Engineer with a background in civil engineering to join our growing team based in Queensland/New South Wales on a full time basis.
We are part of the global STRABAG Group, an experienced project construction company with operations around the world in more than 60 companies, in all classical and niche constructions segments, and has been ranked among the leading international companies in the field of tunnel construction.
We are looking to establish a strong presence in the areas of infrastructure development in Australia, and have made tenders for various road, rail and dam projects in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
As a Project Engineer, you will be working in our project team as well as providing a vital link between our operations in Australia and our Head Office in Europe.
Responsibilities
Act as primary liaison between our Head Office based in Europe and our Australia Office
Design construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.
Prepare engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.
Prepare engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules.
Confirm adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress; inspecting construction site; verifying calculations and placements.
Scheduling of own personnel or subcontractors.
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
To be considered for this opportunity you must have:
A Master of Civil Engineering
The ability to speak fluent German
Well-developed communication skills - both written and verbal in English and German.
Ability to interpret technical and engineering drawings and specifications for a wide range of infrastructure
Demonstrated previous practical experience in tender estimates of major infrastructure projects
Competence in the use of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and OneDrive.
Experience in the use of estimation software (ARRIBA or RIB iTWO) and project management software (Primavera or Powerproject) is essential
Experience in the use of BIM software and additional applications (REVIT, CAD)
Sound knowledge of LEAN Construction techniques
