Christchurch City Libraries is New Zealand's second largest public library system. Highly valued by the community, the library enjoys a reputation for innovation and excellence. Servicing Otautahi Christchurch and Banks Peninsula Te Pataka o Rakaihautu, our network includes 20 libraries, a mobile library service and a comprehensive offering of resources.
Reporting to the Head of Libraries and Information, you will:
Manage a team of 8 direct, and 20 indirect reportsLead, plan and co-ordinate the development of our public learning programmes, events and exhibitionsLead the development of professional learning for staffDevelop the annual promotions schedule of activity and manage the marketing budget for LibrariesChampion the use of new and emerging technologies in the delivery of library programmes, exhibitions and eventsOur ideal applicant will:
Hold a tertiary qualification in education, library or another relevant disciplineHave proven management and leadership experienceBe committed to supporting the Library to meet its obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Nga Aho, the library's bicultural planHave significant experience in, and understanding of, modern learning practice and pedagogyHave proven experience in establishing successful partnershipsHave a strong understanding of the use of innovative digital and creative technologies in the context of public programmes and educationIf you want to make a difference in the community and this role appears to be a good fit, we want to hear from you!.
