Programme Manager at Ministry of Health, Wellington Secondment opportunity to cover Maternity Leave until 20 th December 2024 | full time Wellington based | Flexible Working Options Salary midpoint of $140,938 actual salary dependent on your experience At Manatu Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.Te Pou Hauora Tumatanui (Public Health Agency) sits at the heart of Manatu Hauora and leads and advised Ministers on all public health matters and delivers public health and population functions. It's key partners in fulfilling its role include Te Aka Whai Ora (Maori Health Authority), iwi, hapu and, Maori communities and kaupapa Maori partners and the National Public Health Service within Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand).Te Pou Hauora Tumatanui provides public health leadership across the health and disability sector and beyond and influences the wider determinants of population health to enable people, theirwhanauand environments to be healthy and improve their wellbeing.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do As a Programme Manager at the Public Health Agency, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing strategic initiatives that directly impact public health outcomes. You'll lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with key stakeholders, and champion innovative solutions to complete health challenges. Key Responsibilities Deliver Programme Management Activities: Lead and manage programmes of work, including complex cross-functional projects, working directly with Senior Responsible Officers to ensure successful outcomes. Provide Effective Design and Planning Support: Offer expertise in design, planning, resourcing, and implementation, preparing high-quality project initiation/commissioning documents, and managing budgets and reporting. Manage Dependencies and Risks: Proactively manage dependencies and risks between programmes, resolving issues and implementing corrective actions as needed. Provide Leadership and Advice: Offer leadership, critical thinking, and advice to internal teams, stakeholders, and partners, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement. Facilitate Stakeholder Communications: Develop and deliver regular, effective stakeholder communications using various channels, fostering transparency and collaboration. Build Team Capabilities: Provide training and education on programme/project management methodologies, supporting the development of this capability across the Directorate. Foster Collaborative Relationships: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices. Advanced knowledge of programme and strong project management methods and disciplines, with proven delivery in the health sector, or a public policy/regulatory environment A tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience Strong leadership, management and influencing experience, including experience of leading delivery of complex work programmes and supporting change with a wide range of stakeholders Highly developed written and oral communication skills, and an ability to take complex information and synthesise into key message for relevant audiences An understanding of the Public Sector environment, policy and regulatory processes, including Government decision-making and operating procedures Ko matou me to matou whare - What we bring Unlock your career potential at Manatu Hauora, where you'll discover a world of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
