KCC is designated by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and accredited by the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA). Graduates are eligible to write their provincial licensing examinations with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC). Our faculty consists of passionate individuals, many of whom run successful private practices or have decades of experience working in their modalities.
Kootenay Columbia College (KCC) is hiring a Massage Therapy Instructor and Program Manager (blended role) for our Registered Massage Therapy Program. The applicant must be a Registered Massage Therapist in the Province of BC with at least two years of clinic practice.
Position: Program Manager & Instructor, Registered Massage Therapy Program.
Job Type: Permanent, Part-Time
Location: Nelson, BC
Expected Start Date: May 2024
Reports to: Dean, VP Operations
Hours per week: 5 to 25 (to allow time for private massage practice)
Salary: $50 to $55 per hour depending on experience
WHY YOU?To be successful in the RMT Program Manager & Instructor position, candidates must be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:
Duties and Responsibilities (as an RMT Instructor):? Deliver engaging and comprehensive lectures and practical demonstrations to students pursuing careers in massage therapy.
? Provide lectures/practical labs that fall within the course outline and the topics scheduled.
? Review and maintain accurate course outlines for courses taught and provide these to the KCC Administration Office.
? Ensure lecture notes, slide decks and other learning materials are uploaded to the learning management system prior to the start of each term.
? Collaborate with the academic team to review and update curriculums, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and academic standards.
? Provide academic and practical skills guidance, mentorship, and student support, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
? Maintain and submit an ongoing record of class attendance at the start of each class.
? Evaluate students' performance, grade assignments, and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their academic growth.
? Ensure grades are entered accurately in the learning management system.
? Stay updated with advancements in the profession of massage therapy, integrating relevant findings into the curriculum and sharing your expertise with colleagues and students.
? Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance teaching techniques, subject matter expertise, and educational methodologies.
? Collaborate with fellow faculty members, participate in departmental meetings, and engage in interdisciplinary projects to enrich the academic environment.
? Be responsive to emails from students, staff and fellow faculty using the assigned email address.
Duties and Responsibilities (as an RMT Program Manager):? Providing Leadership to RMT program instructors and students.
? Ensuring the program aligns with CMTCA and CMTBC Standards and other applicable healthcare standards in Canada.
? Contributing to the development of curriculum and instructional materials.
? Supporting the administrative functions of the campus to enhance the student experience.
? Acting in a manner that upholds KCC standards.
? Participating in KCC RMT Program Activities and other campus activities.
? Monitoring and reviewing students during practicum and/or clinical placements, as the program requires.
Education and Experience? Degree or diploma from a recognised University or College in Registered Massage Therapy
? The applicant must be a Registered Massage Therapist licensed in the Province of BC with at least two years of clinic practice.
? A credential in adult education is an asset.
Skills and Abilities? Relevant professional skills and knowledge relating to the instruction of Registered Massage Therapy, including ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
? Ability to provide leadership to the program and instructors.
? Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation and group facilitation.
? Ability to motivate and inspire students.
? High standards of behavior, a professional attitude and commitment to quality service
? Ability to work cooperatively with other instructors and staff.
? Ability to consider and respond appropriately to students' needs, feelings and capabilities, provide feedback, and treat students equitably.
? Learn and use technology to enhance the student learning experience.
? Up-to-date knowledge of CMTBC and RMTBC regulations.
? Interest in pedagogical and multi-modal education approaches is an asset.
