And now, we're looking for someone like you to join us... THE ROLE: We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our team on a maternity cover basis. Dates for this cover would be from June 2024 to February 2025. As the Production Manager, you will manage the AE Live roster, ensuring Graphics Operators are on-site to deliver live graphics on air. This role also involves sending staff overseas to collaborate with sporting bodies such as World Rugby for events like Sevens or the Rugby World Cup, or even with FIFA for the Football World Cup. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time for all clients, from Sky New Zealand and TVNZ to World Rugby. The successful candidate will need to efficiently organize workflows, meet specified deadlines, monitor budgets and meticulously allocate the right person to each job. Communication is key – you'll need to maintain consistent communication with staff and key personnel, establish objectives, and comprehend requirements. You'll be responsible for assessing the required resources for outside broadcasts and actively monitoring productions to address any issues. Handling logistical aspects such as booking flights, accommodations, car rentals, carnet's, and freight arrangements is also part of the role. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients by flawlessly delivering requests and ensuring organized, precise, and timely deliveries is a must. This role operates during regular business hours from Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required as work may extend beyond usual hours due to global client needs. Occasional domestic and international travel is also part of the role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS: Working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure all staff scheduling is accurate and delivered in a reasonable timeframe adhering to budgets. Manage the AE Roster. Ensure schedules are adhered to. Promote work-life balance for all staff. Determine the number of necessary resources for all Outside Broadcasts and Studio work. Assist with forecasting and manage production budgets. Organize workflows to meet specifications and deadlines. Attend internal and external meetings as required. Calculate, allocate, and monitor Days in Lieu accrued by operational staff. Maintain regular communication with all staff and key personnel to formulate objectives and understand requirements. Monitor productions to resolve issues. Organize relief cover for planned and unplanned leave. Coordinate bookings for flights, accommodations, and car rentals. Organize carnet's and freight. Manage the company-client relationship by delivering all reasonable requests without fault. Liaise with clients to ensure delivery is organized, precise, and on time. Act in the best interests of the company at all times. Offer suggestions to improve processes and procedures. Enforce Health & Safety procedures. Operate transparently and respectfully handle private information. Effectively manage sick and annual leave for all operational staff. Address scheduling conflicts or issues promptly and find suitable solutions. Collaborate with the team to optimize scheduling processes and ensure client satisfaction. Provide excellent customer service to all clients and suppliers, including Orbit – AE Live's Travel Management Company. MUST HAVE: Knowledge of sports broadcast. 5 years' experience as a production manager or equivalent – preferably in a live environment. Experience managing production budgets. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Experience in rostering or scheduling. Strong organizational skills. Ability to deal with all levels of staff in all situations. Competency to monitor and analyse labour costs. Ability to plan and anticipate required resource levels and skill sets. Excellent attention to detail. Critical thinking with problem-solving and strong analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A love of Sport - wouldn't go amiss! PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Team player with a can-do attitude. Adaptability and a willingness to be hands-on. Solutions-focused and highly organized. Able to commit to weekend work and 'out-of-hours' work as and when required. The right to live and work full-time in Auckland, New Zealand.
