Product Manager - Trade Systems at New Zealand Customs Service, Wellington Bring your leadership and relationship experience to running the trade systems that underpin New Zealand's border managementLead and develop a high performing and collaborative applications teamFlexible working arrangements + three extra Customs' service leave daysWe are seeking an experienced Product Manager/Owner for the high-profile Trade systems portfolio within our Information Services group. This is a full-time permanent role, based in our Wellington Customhouse.
The Trade Product Manager leads a cross-functional team that develops, maintains and improves a portfolio of ICT products that underpin New Zealand's flow of imports and exports. This includes setting the roadmap for the Trade Single Window system, and other products within the Trade portfolio. You'll be working with our Policy and Operations groups, partner agencies in the border sector, and a range of stakeholders in the freight and logistics industry to deliver on priorities.
The role includes overseeing team practices, backlogs and projects to ensure high-quality support and change delivery, along with delivery of work by external providers.
Here's what we're after: A tertiary qualification at least equivalent to Bachelor level, or demonstrated equivalent intellectual capability;Evidenced strength in translating organisational priorities into goals, strategies and plans in your area of responsibility to ensure achievement of results;People leadership and management experience, including demonstrated ability to manage employment issues and promote change in challenging environments;Strong problem solving and decision-making ability, including the ability to identify problems, manage or mitigate risks and implement innovative solutions that take immediate and longer term consequences into account;Demonstrated interpersonal skills, using communication techniques to ensure clarity of message and the desired result. This includes being comfortable with speaking to stakeholders to get buy-in;Evidence of developing and maintaining working relationships, networks and partnerships with key stakeholders in other government agencies and industry (or equivalent);Experience in applying Agile development and Project Management methodology;Able to be on-call for after-hours high priority incident management on a rostered basis.It would be advantageous if you have experience in ICT delivery and management roles; business case development; project implementation; and strategy development.
