Procurement Officer

Procurement Officer
Company:

Christchurch City Council

Details of the offer

The Procurement team at the Christchurch City Council operates as an integral part of the Risk, Finance and Performance group to provide a framework that ensures that there is a best practice procurement applied across all Council procurement activities in alignment with the Council's vision, strategic priorities, and community outcomes. The team is a shared service provider and enabler to the Council's business units.
Conducting procurement in a 'centre-led' manner, the Procurement team champions the quality of execution of the end to end procurement process - from identifying business need, through to contract management. The department consists of a large team that provides safeguarding, servicing and shaping procurement activities across a wide range of Council requirements.
The role of Procurement Officer is an ideal position for someone at the start of their procurement journey - this is a great opportunity if you have recently completed a relevant qualification (such as B Comm or a Diploma majoring in procurement) or have a couple of years' experience under your belt. This is a multifaceted position where no two days are the same and thinking and acting quickly is required. Your role will see you dealing with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally so managing and fostering relationships is imperative.
This is a role where you'll be heavily involved in supporting Procurement Leads and managers across different specialty areas. You'll be assisting Team members to deliver procurement projects from project initiation to contract award and handover by preparing draft documentation, uploading tender documentation, coordinating responses to tender questions, downloading, checking and circulating tender proposals, organising meetings, managing the contract execution process, and coordinating correspondence to keep communication open between stakeholders and internal staff. Being highly organised and taking the lead with a proactive approach will see you gain immeasurable experience with some highly skilled procurement professionals.
Our main goal is to create a seamless end to end procurement process, so you'll have the ability to see the finer detail and will be proactive and initiate change where needed. We are a team that runs at full steam and at times we work in a pressure cooker environment so having a cool, calm and collected nature will work well when we are under the pump. Ideally, you will have experience in procurement in the public or regulated sector dealing in either infrastructure or maintenance and construction.
This is a chance to join a fantastic team of highly talented individuals, who love what they do and have the support of the wider organisation. Everyone here is making a difference to our City and the region and helping shape and build a sustainable environment for future generations.
