Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As Principal Project Manager, you will bring strong leadership to the team to support best practice operations, maintenance and asset management outcomes. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate a sound knowledge of developing integrated solutions designed to address prioritised transport system issues effectively and from a customer perspective. This is a unique opportunity to use your first-rate engineering and contract / commercial management skills to contribute to the successful delivery of large transport infrastructure projects. This will involve close collaboration and engagement with other teams in the NZTA, local authorities, and a variety of stakeholders and construction and asset management and maintenance partners. This is where your strong relationship skills will come to the fore. We are looking for someone that leads through our values and advocates for best practice with our suppliers throughout the project lifecycle. With a depth of experience in contract management of large projects you will be able to effectively lead consultants and contractors to deliver quality infrastructure, on time and to budget that provides the transport outcomes sought. For a copy of the position description please click here Ko koe tenei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring: Extensive experience managing and leading technical teams within the transport and construction industry, in particular experience in operations, maintenance and asset management Extensive experience in project/programme management Strong financial and risk management including insurance Experience in engaging with key strategic stakeholders and building strong relationships Experience with advanced procurement models Experience in managing contracts, ideally within the road transport area and a sound understanding of Contract Management Previous experience with Alliance, FIDIC, 3916, 3910 or similar contract frameworks Experience in analysing complex engineering problems and solutions Proven influencing and negotiation skills Broad experience in design of road construction works and an in-depth knowledge of the processes involved in planning, designing and building An engineering qualification and programme / project management experience within the roading/linear asset engineering sector Experience as an Owner Interface Manager on an alliance project is desirable Leadership and line management of professional staff is desirable A Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng or. equivalent) and a professional member of Engineering NZ is desirable Ko wai matou | About us At the NZ Transport Agency, Waka Kotahi, , it all starts with our people.
