Principal Learning Designer at The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, Wellington Mo te tunga | About the role The Principal Learning Designer (PLD) is responsible for providing strategic advice and design consultancy, through critical review and by leading needs analysis. The focus of the PLD role is to lead the design and development of pedagogically sound, technology-enabled teaching, learning and assessment experiences for open, distance and flexible learning (ODFL) in educational and commercial settings. This position is preferable based in Lower Hutt, but remote working is also an option if you are based outside of the Wellington region.
Nga pukenga mo te tunga | What you will bring to the role Experience in developing bicultural and/or culturally responsive courseware and programme designKnowledge and experience of instructional/learning design principles and educational practicesExperience in learning resources development, including assessmentsWell-developed communication skills with the ability to negotiate, clarify goals, communicate information, concepts and arguments effectivelyEffective planning and organisation skillsWell-developed education technology and computing skills, including authoring tools and learning management systemsCreativity, innovation and willingness to investigate non-traditional alternativesAn understanding of the current tertiary education sector in Aotearoa New Zealand (desirable)A coaching mindsetThe role also ensures digital content in the portfolio is highly engaging, fit for purpose and responsive to the market.
