Maritime Security- ensures compliance, readiness and response related to maritime security, including to ensure that all New Zealand trading ports are compliant to the Maritime Security Act. The team is integrated into the NZ intelligence community and ensures that Maritime NZ contributes to the NZ National Security framework and informs all-of-government capability to respond effectively and efficiently to any maritime security risks.
Te tunga | The role The Principal Advisor Security (Strategy) is a member of the Maritime Security team and plays a key role, together with other members, in delivering a Maritime Security function across Maritime NZ.
The role is responsible for supporting the Manager Maritime Security to develop the strategic maritime security work programme, providing quality insights, leadership and advice on matters relating to maritime security. You will lead cross-team, cross-agency and wider strategic and operational maritime security work, including a focus on Maritime NZ's functions and duties under the Maritime Security Act 2004.
Working across the organisation, your work programme will include the ongoing development and review of operational policies and practice for maritime security.
You will also provide specialist advice on key areas of focus for Maritime NZ's maritime security function.
Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, always being mindful of the cultural diversity of the industry and having regard to Te Ao Maori and Treaty of Waitangi principlesRelevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experienceExperience supporting their manager and colleagues to deliver great outcomesAbility to obtain and maintain a national security clearanceProven experience and knowledge of security systems, and operational policies and practicesProven experience of understanding and working with legislation and regulation and the translation these into operational strategies, policies and practicesExperience developing and providing operational policy advice to wide range of audiencesExperience developing work planning and programming for teamsExperience contributing and taking the lead in projects and programmes of work involving multiple objectives and diverse stakeholders in a fast changing environmentSuccessful track record as a proactive and innovative thinker who is willing to involve others to look at problems from different perspectives and develop fresh solutionsMaritime NZ recognises and respects te Tiriti o Waitangi and we are committed to working with Maori to build strong, meaningful and enduring relationships to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Salary range for this role $136,555 - $166,900 based on skills and experience plus kiwisaver contribution.
