The Department of the Prime Minister and CabinetPrincipal Advisor, Planning and Regional Relationships My career Create an account and apply for jobs of interestCreate a profile and receive email alerts for jobs that match your profilePrincipal Advisor, Planning and Regional RelationshipsFixed Term or Secondment to March 2025In response to the complex recovery of regions affected by the Auckland Anniversary Weekend floods, Cyclone Hale, and Cyclone Gabrielle, the Cyclone Recovery Unit (the CRU) was stood up in March 2023 and is hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.The purpose of the CRU is to support the Chief Executive Cyclone Recovery to coordinate cross-government work on cyclone recovery; to support locally led engagements with communities, iwi, business, and local government; coordinate planning and reporting; and ensure alignment with broader policy decisions on long-term resilience.The purpose of the Principal Advisor, Planning and Regional Relationships role is to lead aspects of FOSAL (Future of Severely Affected Locations) implementation across the affected regions. This requires the incumbent to work closely with the other teams within the CRU, with CIP and with colleagues across central and regional government, to ensure the programme and project plans developed are timely and fit for purpose.You will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the CIP contract and for working with CIP to support the locally led delivery of recovery projects across all the affected regions. This will require you to build and maintain strong relationships with both CIP and the regions to ensure a timely information flow about issues, blockages and other matters that may affect the implementation of regional plans.You will contribute to weekly and monthly reporting to Ministers, including tracking funding and expenditure.
