We do this by:Protecting land, species, ecosystems, and cultural heritage for conservation purposes.Managing threats and adverse impacts.Being a voice for conservation.Connecting people to nature.He angitutanga | About the roleAs Principal Advisor Official Information Act (OIA), you will be responsible for providing technical leadership to the OIA function, to manage risk and enable the delivery of high-quality, timely advice and OIA responses. This is a crucial position, where you will be expected to support the team to deliver on the department's key objectives in relation to the OIA and provide quality review of their work. You will work collaboratively with managers and senior advisors across the department to maintain a good understanding of potential areas of high public interest regarding our work and instil transparency in the OIA process.Key deliverables of the role include:Provide technical support for the OIA and proactive release systems.Enable overall OIA capability uplift across the department through effective coaching and delivery of training opportunities.Support the management of Ombudsman complaints.Develop and deliver an insight and reporting system.Encourage a continuous improvement ethos across the team.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experienceYou will bring with you;A strong understanding and application of the Official Information Act 1982 and the principles of Open Government.A keen sense of political awareness and a good knowledge of the machinery of Government, including structures and processes.Highly developed analytical skills, and an appreciation of the nuances involved in developing workable solutions to ambiguous and complex problems.An excellent communicator and experienced at influencing at a senior level.Experience in coaching and building capability across an organisation.A relevant tertiary qualification essential (e.g. legal, policy, humanities, or similar) in addition to professional experience.Mo te tima | About the teamThe Government Services team forms part of the wider Public Affairs Group.
