Nga kawenga |About the role As the Principal Adviser Protective Security at Ara Poutama Aotearoa, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our people, information, and assets in accordance with the Protective Security Requirements framework. Your primary responsibilities include advising and executing initiatives to enhance the Department's compliance across all mandatory requirements within this framework. Your leadership will ensure the successful implementation and ongoing adherence to these requirements throughout the Department, thereby enabling the Chief Executive to offer assurance to the Government and the public regarding our protective security measures.
Your day-to-day tasks will be varied but will include:
Delivering strategic guidance on Protective Security Requirements to senior management, including the Director Enterprise Risk & Audit.Providing expert consultancy services across various areas such as governance, physical security, personnel security, and information securityDriving the security strategy and insider threat programmesManagement of threats to staff processes, ensuring the safety of our staff and their families.Overseeing the Security Clearances Portfolio and all associated inter-agency liaison and administration.Lead a small team of protective security advisers that enhance security capabilities across our prison, community and corporate environments.This role requires the successful applicant to hold and maintain an appropriate level of security clearance, please check your eligibility here prior to applying.
To be successful with your application you will have:
Demonstrated expertise in managing the delivery of Protective Security Requirements.Ability to comprehend and apply pertinent legislation, policy, and Cabinet requirements.Proven track record in defining, leading, and executing programs and projects.Extensive experience in security-related fields like investigation, management, HR, or intelligence.Highly refined relationship management skills, adept at building trust and effective communication with stakeholders of varying levels.Strategic thinking capabilities and efficient prioritisation skills for short and mid-term strategic planning.This role requires travel on occasion, a Full New Zealand Driver Licence will be required.
The midpoint of the salary range is $170,033 per annum and the full range(85%-120%) is $144,529 - $204,040 per annum.Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
