Make a real difference in the lives of disabled people and whanau.
Critical role supervising and supporting a diverse team
Christchurch location
This is a newly established role in the Ministry of Health within the Disability Directorate. This role is fundamental to the continuation of the Enabling Good Lives approach and support to EGL Independent Facilitators, rangatahi and their whanau in EGL Christchurch.

To carry out this role you will have a depth and breadth of knowledge in EGL, staff development and understanding of wider system issues.
The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and disability system in New Zealand. We are responsible for providing active stewardship and leadership across the nation's health and disability system. We ensure the system provides people with the highest levels of care, regardless of who they are or where they live.
The transformation programme is guided by the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles. Key to this is working in genuine partnership with disabled people to achieve the goals of:
a transformed disability support system providing more choice and control for disabled people,
increased wellbeing for all disabled people and equity of outcomes for Maori and Pacific peoples,
a sustainable value-driven sector with a strong capable workforce,
and a connected system which works together for disabled people.
We would like to hear from you if you:
In depth knowledge and understanding of Enabling Good Lives principles and practices.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in enabling disabled children and adults, their family and whanau to have greater choice and control over the supports they receive and the lives they lead.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in engaging wider non disability community and building their capacity to include disabled children and adults, their family and whanau in mainstream experiences.
Experience in working with Maori and Maori communities and an understanding of cultural differences.
Experience of working in an environment that requires a high level of discretion, sensitivity and interpersonal interaction.
Has relevant supervision qualifications and experience of supervision and reflective practice.
Knowledge of key health and disability policy and approaches.
