Our Story

As the Customer Group we act as the Guardians of Customer satisfaction for Datacom. We strive to engage with our Customers and build long lasting relationships. We take pride in our role within Datacom and are always looking for ways to reach new milestones and connect with a diverse range of Customers. As such we’re looking for a new Practice Manager to lead best practice in our Programme, Portfolio and PMO development.
The Opportunity:Reporting to the Associate Director, Customer, Wellington, you will assist them in building a high performing Programme and PMO practice with high levels of customer engagement. Our people are important to us, and you’ll be a key part of our continued growth by enhancing our capability through mentoring, recruitment and resourcing, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives for the team.
You’ll take an organisation wide view on developing the practice and being involved in skill and capability development across the organisation, ensuring the consistent application of relevant methodologies and techniques. You’ll work closely with the Customer team to validate that Programme pipelines and resourcing are aligned to support customer success and achieve intended strategic benefits.
You can be based anywhere in the country, as your team will be based across New Zealand.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
5+ years Programme Management and/or leading a delivery PMO including People and P&L management
5+ years leadership and/or management experience in a project delivery environment – you’ve high EQ and the ability to motivate and grow your people
10+ years of successful project delivery (agile and waterfall) in complex, fast-changing environments, with transformation and vendor management.
Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills up to an Executive level.
Proficient in Quality Management principles, methods and techniques for the effective management of quality e.g. Lean 6 Sigma.
Experience with implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Strong team leadership and engagement, data analysis, planning and financial management skills with experience in resourcing and recruitment is essential, with effective report writing techniques essential.
And of course, the fit to the Datacom culture is essential, so we'll be looking for the professionalism, problem solving ability, common sense, commitment and delivery focus that Datacom is known for.
