This role is an exciting opportunity to provide both people and technical leadership, supporting the Practice Manager in the development and overall success of the practice and its people. The successful candidate will be working collaboratively with a team of Software Engineering Practice Leads, equipping members of the practice with the skills, tools, and common methodologies to consistently deliver value, quality and functional excellence. This role is based in Wellington
What you'll do: As a Practice Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's Software Engineering Practice. You will work closely with the Practice Manager to ensure that all aspects of the practice are running smoothly, from overseeing performance to collaborating on recruitment needs. Your leadership skills will be put to good use as you guide your team towards achieving their goals, while your technical expertise will be invaluable in delivering high-quality software engineering solutions. Furthermore, you will have the rewarding task of helping your team members grow professionally through mentoring and coaching.
Support the Practice Manager in overseeing the practice's overall performance, ensuring consistency and quality of skills and methodologyCollaborate with the Practice Manager and Delivery stakeholders on sourcing and recruitment needs for the practiceProvide people and technical leadership as well as actively participating in the delivery of Software Engineering across IST and the wider businessSupport the people in the practice to develop their capabilities through mentoring and coaching What you bring: The ideal candidate for this Practice Lead position brings a wealth of professional experience in software engineering along with a deep understanding of relevant processes and tools. She has demonstrated her ability to provide intellectual and technical leadership, especially when it comes to coaching and developing her colleagues. Her proven track record shows her capacity for leading others towards improved workforce culture, engagement, and ways of working. With extensive experience operating in an Agile environment, she is adept at navigating fast-paced settings. Her strong networking skills and well-developed relationships within the technology sector will be a valuable asset. Lastly, her excellent communication skills enable her to effectively translate both technical and non-technical information.
Significant professional and technical experience in software engineering, with a strong understanding of relevant processes and toolsExperience providing intellectual and technical leadership, particularly in coaching and developing staff and peersProven track record leading and influencing others, improving workforce culture, engagement and ways of workingExtensive experience operating in an Agile environmentStrong networking skills and well-developed relationships within the technology sector and industryExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate technical and non-technical information What sets this company apart: Our client is a people-centred organisation that values diversity and inclusivity.
