Full Time Application Closes 28 Mar 2024 Auckland - Central Auckland Community and Social Service Specialist Pou Whirinaki Fixed Term Contract – April 2024 – April 2026 About the role This role works within the He Ara Whakamana Tangata team, with its primary purpose to meet the needs of residents residing within HomeGround (80 tenants) and Te Ao Marama (63 Tenants) apartments. While also providing activities and opportunities for wider whanau engagement in the activities space.  The Pou Whirinaki role will be responsible for maintaining current activities and services while increasing the number of initiatives, activities and engagement opportunities from a fully embedded Matauranga Maori lens. They will be instrumental in creating relationships both internally and externally which directly relates to the current activities space, to re-energise and embed a te ao Maori look, feel and experience. This strategy will require input and support from services aligned with He Ara Whakamana Tangata.  Duties Integrate and embed matauranga Maori projects and initiatives within the activities space and throughout the laneway areas where services are delivered to our clients.  Facilitate opportunities for iwi, hapu and whanau Maori to contribute to activities that have a significant impact on our whanau. Provide consistent guidance on kaupapa Maori, tikanga Maori te reo Maori and Maori current affairs to enhance the capacity of the activities service delivery.  Develop and implement initiatives and design changes to be responsive to Matauranga Maori.  Develop relationships internally and with relevant external providers that support the Mission and its work. Skills & Experience Knowledge of Kaupapa Maori principles e.g., understanding culture, power and how it relates to the Treaty. In-depth knowledge and understanding of implementing te reo me ona tikanga Maori into organisational practice. Training and facilitation qualification preferable. Reputation as someone who is trusted and leads in a tika, pono and aroha way. Effective leadership skills that can empower and motivate others. Last year we were proud to win the Nga Ahuatanga o Te Tiriti Tohu (Award), and the Supreme Award at the 2023 Diversity Awards.
