With more than $25 billion in assets under administration and offices across the country, Wellington-Altus identifies with successful, entrepreneurial advisors and portfolio managers and their high-net-worth clients.*Investment Executive 2023 Brokerage Report Card.The opportunity:Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Managers, the Portfolio Associate acts as a resource person for clients and assists Portfolio Managers with administrative tasks related to managing client accounts.Please submit a copy of your resume when applying for this position.Key responsibilities include:Assist in preparing Advisors for client meetings, including preparation of account opening documentation.Process a variety of transactions (ex: issuing cheques, deposits, contributions and withdrawals, incoming and outgoing transfers).Commit to rigorous follow up relating to all client transactions to ensure proper processing and minimize errors.Acts as a general resource person for clients (ex: printing statements, tax slips)Have a strong understanding of the firm's procedures and policies.Act as a lead on team projectsMaintain client files, ensure that all documentation and notes are compliant with industry regulations.Attend client eventsPerforms other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will possess:A diploma in business administration, accounting, finance, or similar field of study.A minimum of one years' industry experience, preferably in an administrative or operational capacity.Registration as an IR or RR with IIROC is an asset.Strong understanding of the rules around registered products and government programs including RESPs, RSPs, RIFs, TFSAs, first-time homebuyer programs, etc.A professional designation such as PFP or CFP is considered an asset.Prior experience with Money Market, Dataphile, Ndex Portfolio Management Software, and experience utilizing Fidelity as a custodian is an asset.A commitment to fulfilling Continuing Education requirements.A demonstrated ability to independently prioritize and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.Excellent attitude and commitment to providing extraordinary service.A proven ability to independently identify problems and make suggestions for improvement.An ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and work requirements; stay up to date on all processes and procedures.Strong organizational skills.An excellent attention to detail.A reliable, consistent work ethic.Conditions of employment:Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.Current and maintained registration as an IR or RR, including completion of all courses and experience requirements, with IIROC with the ongoing requirement to fulfill Continuing Education requirements.A background check, satisfactory to the employer, may be required of the successful applicant before commencing employment.Wellington-Altus is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community and welcomes applications from women, racialized persons, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and genders.
