Our Role
The primary function of this role is to oversee all the stevedoring functions for our customers vessels through the Multi-Cargo Terminal within the Port of Auckland.
The role involves planning, labour management, overseeing vessel discharge and load operations, health and safety, liaising with customers as well as coaching, mentoring and supporting the team.
This role offers excellent opportunity for a switched on, well organised individual with excellent planning and communication skills to hit the ground running. There's a real focus on reviewing operational performance to enable the company to deliver on results. You'll have plenty of opportunity to take ownership to drive improvement forward.
Duties are varied and will include:
Carrying out safety observations and leading the daily Toolbox meetings;
Overseeing labour, including signing off on timesheets;
Overseeing a diverse range of vessel discharge and load operations;
Liaising with shipping companies and customer representatives; and
Suggesting improvements and building a culture of dialogue between stakeholders.
The skills & personal attributes we look for:
Previous experience in supervising, coaching and motivating teams of people;
A champion for health and safety;
Great problem solving;
Well-developed communication skills;
Top notch customer service skills; and
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and organised. Although knowledge of the shipping industry is highly desirable, we will provide training to the successful person.
