Planning Manager - Farlie, South Canterbury

The Mackenzie District Council has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Planning Manager to join our team and build on and continue the mahi (work) that we have been undertaking.
As our Planning Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of six Planners (all at varying stages of their careers) whilst overseeing a range of diverse work such as completing our current District Plan review, resource consent applications and compliance, contributing to our strategic and operational planning, monitoring environmental impacts and ensuring regulatory compliance, advising Council on RMA reform and legislative changes, and ensuring that our strong relationships with mana whenua are maintained. If you want to own the Planning Manager role you will need the following qualifications, technical skills, knowledge, and abilities:
A relevant tertiary qualification preferably in Planning or Resource Management related fields. Previous and proven experience in a People Leadership / Management position. Minimum of seven years' experience in planning, resource management, district planning or policy analysis. An excellent understanding of district plan / plan changes and consent processes. Be able to demonstrate strategic and technical competence in the relevant statutory and policy frameworks and processes. Strong working knowledge of the Resource Management Act and its implementation. A sound working knowledge of Local Government. This is a full time, permanent role (40 hours per week) based in Fairlie, South Canterbury.
