Planning graduate opportunities Based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch Receive mentoring and training from some of the best in the business Permanent opportunities starting February 2025Our Emerging Professionals Programme Te Reanga Pito Mata runs over 24 months with three 8-month rotations within the selected area of specialisation and brings some of the top emerging talent from across the motu together with the best people from NZTA - Waka Kotahi. Through the work that you do, you'll get the chance to improve and enhance the transport network and systems across Aotearoa. Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity - PlanningBoth our Transport Planning and Environmental Planning teams provide an excellent opportunity for development of your career, with progression available within the teams, or within other teams they work closely with. Exposure to these teams will give you insight into how transport and environmental projects are planned and designed. Transport PlanningYou'll work closely with our Senior and Principal Planners. You'll be part of the team developing business cases through the various phases from confirming the strategic purpose and direction, optioneering and evaluation, to identifying a recommended solution, and including support to the detailed design and consenting phase. Environmental PlanningYou'll be part of a team that gets involved in a range of activities, with a focus on Land Use Developments and third-party approvals. You will also gain exposure to the other work streams, such as district and regional plan reviews and insights into project work. Ko koe tenei About you To be successful in this role, you will bring : A planning qualification (within the last 6 years) and an interest in pursuing a career in planning. High attention to detail with good verbal and written communication skills. Strong personal and cultural values that drive your performance and commitment. The desire to collaborate and engage with a broad range of people. A desire to learn and gain new skills and knowledge. Natural curiosity around how things are done and how to make things better. A pro-active approach.You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
