Serve in a clinician educator role with responsibility for education of fellows, residents, medical students and other learners. The Department of Internal Medicine has a thriving and rapidly expanding research portfolio that spans the entire spectrum of basic and clinical research from genes and molecules to translation of discoveries in the community. With a new Research Office, the Department has witnessed unsurpassed enthusiasm and support for research over the past year. Internal Medicine active grant funding is over $43M. About the position: Perform in-patient attending consultation rounds in rotation with other faculty members. Maintain an ID ambulatory clinic with potential for general infectious diseases population and specialist populations based on individual interest and expertise. Provide medical care to critical care patients on the Intensive Care Unit. Provide formal educational instruction by consistently attending and presenting at key Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Critical Care conferences. Provide specialty content updates emphasizing pathophysiology, clinical and diagnostics principles and emerging therapeutic interventions. Support other University teaching activities as identified by the Director. Participate in formal scholarship activities including but not limited to mentorship of house staff and student academic projects, conduction and dissemination of scientific discoveries, participation in Divisional and Institutional scholarship activities with an emphasis on specialty areas of expertise and to continually foster an environment of learning and discovery. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of Internal Medicine or the Directors of Infectious Diseases Division and Pulmonary Critical Care Division. Qualifications Required Qualifications: BC/BE in Internal Medicine or equivalent BC/BE in Infectious Disease BC/BC in Critical Care Ability to obtain Kansas and Missouri medical licenses   Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Infectious Diseases and/or Critical Care clinical patient care and research. Interest in medical education is preferred by not required.
