We do this by: protecting land, species, ecosystems, and cultural heritage for conservation purposes managing threats and adverse impacts being a voice for conservation connecting people to nature. Most activities on public conservation land, or in relation to protected wildlife, marine mammals, or marine reserves require approval from the Department.Our Te Waipounamu Permissions team, located in service centres in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Hokitika, along with another team in Hamilton, process these applications. We help to ensure that activities occurring on public conservation land are undertaken in a manner that protects the values of the land and complies with the legislation. He angitutanga | About the roleAs a Permissions Team Lead, you'll oversee a team of Permissions Advisors, providing guidance, mentorship, and acting as the point of escalation for complex queries. You will be collaborating with others in an inclusive team process environment to ensure professional and high-quality outputs. You will manage workload allocation and performance management, along with the wellbeing of our high-performing team.You will be directly involved in building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of people, stakeholder groups, and industries, providing professional advice and support to internal and external customers. This will include working closely with the Dunedin, Hokitika, and wider Permissions teams.We are currently trialling new approaches to our work and this is an exciting and dynamic time to join our team.
