This is an opportunity to work for a global company with exposure to many different industries in New Zealand, focusing on supporting clients with their payroll needs.Situated in our sunny office in downtown Auckland, you'll work with a great team of motivated payroll professionals alongside the wider team dealing with accounting & tax, and company secretarial services.How you'll make an impactReporting to the Payroll Team Leader for New Zealand, you'll play a key role in our business by maintaining and processing payroll information for fortnightly and monthly pay runs for our clients worldwide. The Payroll Manager and Payroll Specialist will fully support you in this role.The payroll department is a dynamic environment, and we are looking for a motivated person who will bring their energy and attitude for learning and development with them.What you'll doThe Payroll Associate is part of a team responsible for processing payroll information for our global clients. You will learn about New Zealand payroll legislation, entitlements, and processing. You will work closely with our team and start your journey as an advisor to our clients. You will have the opportunity to obtain payroll certifications from the New Zealand Payroll Practitioners Association (NZPPA) to further develop yourself as a subject matter expert in payroll in New Zealand. You will learn how to use payroll software and other tools to deliver our services to our clients.Processing client payrolls end-to-end with accuracy.Accept and perform client work within the scope of the services agreement.Ensure payrolls are processed, reviewed, and submitted to clients within the agreed deadlinesEnsure payrolls are compliant with local legislation at all times.Ensure payrolls are processed in accordance with client checklists and ISAE protocols at all times.Ensure banking is set up correctly and authorised on time each pay period.Develop and maintain client relationships.Ensure clients are provided with a high quality of service and professional support.Maintain professional contact with clients on day-to-day operations and issues.Review daily correspondence with clients to ensure timely and accurate responses.Meet or exceed client needs and expectations.Escalate issues and technical queries to the Payroll Manager.Maintain excellent administrative practices.Be responsible for and maintain the payroll workflow schedules, utilising the standard practices in place.Be mindful of deadlines and deadline conflicts – raise conflicts to the Payroll Manager so these can be resolved or mitigated.Maintain proper treatment and filing of all relevant documents in line with existing practices.Identify and raise added efficiency measures to the Payroll Manager.Develop knowledge and skills on a constant basis including but not limited to:Actively learning and effectively using new systems such as Datacom EasiPay, Datacom Direct Access, TMF Horizon, Sharefile, Culture Amp and so on.Actively engaging in and seeking out knowledge related to relevant payroll legislation including Holidays Act 2003, Employment Relations Act 2000, Wages Protection Act 1983, Minimum Wage Act 1983, Parental Leave Act and Employment Protection Act 1987, Privacy Act 2020, Income Tax Act 2007Work as a team player with the payroll team, wider NZ office, and overseas colleagues.Stand in as required in the absence of other team members to help manage client needs and activitiesEscalate issues or concerns to the Payroll Manager as they arise.Maintain a professional standard with colleagues.What you'll bring with youTo be successful in this role, you will have had experience working in a professional environment to learn about New Zealand payroll legislation and processing.You will also be someone who can work under pressure and with tight deadlines. Most of our clients are based internationally, so we are constantly working with short time frames.Your excellent communication skills will ensure you are capable of solving problems, mitigating issues, and handling clients skillfully.General computer skills including Microsoft Office products and Outlook are essential in the role.Prior experience with the DataPay software would be advantageous but not a must.What we offerWe at TMF are very open with working arrangements.
