Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll Manager to join their Human Resources Service Centre. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of professionals in delivering accurate and timely payroll services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the payroll teams, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and contributing to the ongoing development of the Centre. This position is central in mentoring and coaching their teams to sustain morale, training and development, welfare, job satisfaction, and training of these personnel.• Lead a team of professionals in delivering accurate and timely payroll services.• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Human Resources Service Centre.• Mentor and coach teams to sustain morale, training and development.
What you'll do:
As a Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of professionals who are passionate about HR Administration and Payroll services. You will ensure that your team delivers accurate and timely payroll functions, including managing two distinct pay runs on alternating weeks, managing overpayments, and resolving payroll inquiries. Your ability to build rapport and encourage cooperation within your team will be key to your success in this role. You will also be responsible for overseeing compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements. Your proactive approach will enable you to identify improvement opportunities and develop them into business cases.

• Ensure Payroll teams are operating effectively by providing clear communication, direction, leadership and team management.
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll services are completed by the teams for each fortnightly pay run.
• Manage the timely recovery and repayment of payroll funds.
• Build rapport and encourage cooperation both within and across work teams.
• Oversee compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
• Identify improvement opportunities and develop them into a business case in preparation for submitting to the business.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Payroll Manager role brings a wealth of experience in payroll practices and customer-centric designed payroll services. You have a deep understanding of relevant legislation such as the Tax Administration Act, Student Loan Scheme Act, Wages Protections Act, Holidays Act, Employment Relations Act, Official Information Act, Privacy Act. Your proven track record in leading sizable operational teams in either local or central Government sector payrolls will be invaluable in this role. Your excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools, including SharePoint, will enable you to excel in this position.

• Solid understanding of payroll practices and customer-centric designed payroll services.
• Knowledge of relevant Acts such as the Tax Administration Act, Student Loan Scheme Act, Wages Protections Act, Holidays Act, Employment Relations Act, Official Information Act, Privacy Act.
• Demonstrated ability in leading sizable operational teams in either local or central Government sector payrolls.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to the communications needs of others.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of tools including SharePoint.
