Full Time Application Closes 08 Apr 2024 Hawkes Bay - Hastings Healthcare Support Worker Cadets are trained as Homecare Support Workers with the Te Oranga Tautiaki, Home Care Support service. This programme is designed to attract and support local Maori into stable employment within the healthcare sector. About UsTe Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a well-respected, successful, health and social services provider, supporting our local community in Hawkes Bay and whanau throughout the East Coast of the North Island. Our health, social, education and community development teams have been working successfully with whanau for over 38 years. We are a values-based organisation who thread our cultural values of Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga, Whanaungatanga and Kotahitanga through everything we do.About the RoleReporting to the Project Manager, the purpose of this role is to provide wrap around support to the Te Oranga Tautiaki Cadets as they make their way through our Tuakana- Teina Cadet programme.The Pastoral Support Worker is responsible for:· In close liaison with the Programme Coordinator support recruitment of the cadets.· Establish positive, productive working relationships with Cadets, acting as a role model and support the cadets with pastoral needs. · Monitor cadets progress and training and address any issues or barriers that may affect them completing the programme. · Be knowledgeable of the Te Whare Tapa Wha assessment, planning and interventions and Whanau centred approaches.Ideal Applicants will have:· Relevant vocational Support Worker qualification or equivalent vocational experience· Experience working with programmes and projects in Kaupapa Maori health and social services or an associated field. · Current Full Driver's Licence.· Strong interpersonal skills to help build positive relationships with Cadets and stakeholders.· Empathy and supportive nature to support the cadets as they navigate the programme· Excellent verbal and written communication skills· Highly organised to manage multiple tasks and schedules.· Passion for individual development and success· Knowledge of Kaupapa Maori, tikanga Maori and Te Reo Maori.Police Vetting and a Physical Functional test are part of the selection process.
