About Us
Basic Rentals is a New Zealand owned and operated business with one yard in Takanini, we are getting more vehicles and growing our fleet. We specialise in box body trucks, flat deck, trailer, Cargo van and car and minivan hire.
An opportunity has arisen for an Office Manager to join our team and take charge of the day to day running of the business.
The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the management of a small, but hopefully growing, staff overseeing all branch operations. You will strive to achieve business growth and demonstrate an exceptional customer focus and be a key point of contact for both customers and staff.
You will be the first point of contact for customer escalations, high level enquiries, maintaining and reporting the financial aspects of the business, overseeing the fleet, and regularly liaising with mechanics to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and meet the safety requirements.
Leading and motivating your team will be key, whilst creating and driving a strong performance culture.
You'll have the autonomy to make the role your own, enhancing and streamlining processes and systems as you see fit. We are looking for a manager that has proven experience in motivating and getting the best out of their team.
This role will see you on your feet, working on the ground, not tied to your desk. Your ability to demonstrate good judgement and make effective decisions on the hop will be crucial to your success.
Specific Duties
Ensure that customer service exceed expectations of both the Owners and the customers.
Ensure that the vehicles, yard and office are maintained and well presented to give customers the desire to hire off us and to return for future hires.
Daily and weekly reports on income and invoices
Manage the cashbook entries and keep accounting records up to date and deal with accounts receivable.
Contribute to the annual branch budget and initiate corrective action to achieve and or exceed budget.
Ensure the security of company assets
Maintain adherence to health and safety procedures
Build strong relationships with both personal and business customers.
Create a supportive and motivating environment for your team to learn and develop their skills and knowledge, whilst clearly understanding their role and accountabilities.
Effectively manage inventory for the workshop to minimise costs to the business and maximise efficiencies.
Maintain a level of branch standards that adhere to company expectations and procedures.
Maintain management of staff, including hiring, rosters, and appraisals

Skills and Experience Required
Previous experience in a management role;
Knowledge of business accounting concepts and practices;
A friendly and positive, can do attitude with the ability to problem solve and take the initiative
Good office skills including Word and Excel capabilities
Excellent professional communication (written and verbal)
Eye for detail, comfortable working with numbers
A willingness to get involved (e.g. talk to customers, prepare quotes, maintain fleet records, and sometimes help prepare vehicles and assist with deliveries)
Team player who can connect with people with a variety of backgrounds
Has common sense and plenty of life experiences
Able to make decisions and to prioritise…and to re­prioritise
Problem Solving and Initiative
Full New Zealand driver’s licence with the ability to drive both manual and automatic cars.
An understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity and Worksafe practices.
Able to work Monday to Sunday shifts between the hours of 7.30am to 5.30pm.
Experience, knowledge or an understanding of the automotive or customer industry (not essential).
