Additional funding has led to the establishment of specific CCU roles in the Allied Health Professions. You will work as a team to develop an interprofessional service within the 6 bedded Unit. You will be working with an experienced nursing and medical team who are ready to embrace the role of occupational therapy in the unit with the recent appointment of a Charge Nurse Leader with experience in a large overseas unit where Occupational Therapy was a respected and valued team member. You will work to provide evidenced based Occupational therapy assessment and intervention, guidance and advice within the CCU setting. Ideally you will bring some experience in the CCU/HDU space but don't be put off if you haven't as you will have access to support and education from the Occupational Therapy ICU Educator Te Waipounamu (South Island). This role has been established to support the develop ment  of skills and knowledge in those Occupational Therapists working in CCUs across the South Island. It is more important that you enjoy working in an acute, fast paced environment and are ready and willing to further develop your skills and knowledge in this space. The remainder of your role will be spent working in the acute medical and surgical wards, where y ou'll have the opportunity to assess and treat wide range of conditions with surgical, orthopaedic, medical, neurological needs. You will also work with our less experienced staff including our new graduate rotators providing clinical supervision and mentoring to help them to develop as occupational therapists. Within both areas you will lead service development and quality improvement. This position is suit able for clinicians in their third year of practice onwards. A minimum of 3 years clinical experience, including tertiary/  Acute inpatient experience  with ideally some experience in a CCU/HDU environment Experience in supervising and mentoring less experienced staff Hard working and open to all learning opportunities Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand in accordance with the HPCA Act 2004 and possess a current Practising Certificate Actively participate in the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand's re-certification programme and Southern's Credentialing Review process Must be eligible to work in New Zealand or have a work visa/permit Possess a full and current NZ Driver's licence Be prepared to work towards accreditation as an Assessor for the Equipment Management Service Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action  or a willingness to do so. Utu whanui |Salary range This role belongs to the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($70,842 p.a) and Step 7 ($100,466 p.a pro rata) of the Degree-Based Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
