About the role:

We are looking for a nurse educator to join us in the Professional Development Unit. Our vision is "Leading Education for Quality Care" and our mission is the advancement of nursing and midwifery practice, facilitated through workforce development and clinical education initiatives. The purpose of this nursing leadership role is to respond to variances in education needs and facilitate learning to equip nurses with the knowledge and skills to deliver excellent care and actively contribute to enabling health equity for our high need populations. Physically based at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, the successful candidate will join a team of dedicated and experienced nurse educators holding the perioperative nursing care portfolio, working in partnership with Theatre and Anaesthesia nurse leaders. The role also contributes to DHB wide clinical education, new graduate and practice development programmes delivered by the Professional Development Unit in alignment with the organisation's strategic direction.

Required skills & experience:

At least four years clinical experience within the New Zealand context Experience in delivering and facilitating learning in clinical practice (e.g. in-services, Participation in education workshops, NETP) On PDRP, at expert or senior level Excellent leadership skills in communication and relationship management Engagement in quality improvement activities by holding a champion/link nurse role (e.g. medicine management, Releasing Time to Care, infection control) A preceptorship qualification or equivalent adult teaching qualification A flair for innovative practice and experience or interest in clinical simulation
