Nurse Educator – Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation (AT&R)
Dunedin Hospital
Part-time role 24 hours per week
Fixed term for up to 6 months
About the Team
Approximately 80 staff (nursing, allied health and medical) make up the inter-professional teams operating across our two hospital sites located in the CBD and Wakari suburb to provide patient centred care for our local communities. Our teams provide wraparound services with rapid assessment and treatment which means that our staff are both adaptable and flexible in terms of working practice, knowledge and skills. The team are hardworking, dedicated and passionate about older person’s health and wellbeing that results in the provision of seamless services both within the hospital setting as well as throughout the transition to home. Our caring, open, positive and inclusive teams work collaboratively sharing their knowledge and skills in a supportive manner; all of which lead to improved health outcomes alongside enhanced experience of care.
About the opportunity
We are looking for a Nurse Educator to step into this fixed term/secondment role to continue to support new and existing staff within the AT&R departments with the provision of education, training and resources that ensure practice is current, evidence based and fit for purpose. As Nurse Educator within AT&R you will be working with both our under 65 and over 65 AT&R Services, providing encouragement of ongoing nursing development.
A born communicator and collaborator, with the inherent ability to build successful working relationships, this role will see you working alongside nurses, allied health professionals, medical colleagues as well as other educators within the wider PDU team to provide practice and professional development opportunities that enhance service delivery, quality and safety.
About you
You will have considerable post registration experience in nursing, professional credibility in the clinical setting with the confidence and passion for supporting and developing our nurses. Participating in the recruitment of new nurses, developing and implementing their orientation programme is all part of the job. You must have first-rate knowledge of the professional standards and regulations for Nurses plus superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
It is essential that you are a Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate and either hold or be working towards an appropriate postgraduate qualification.
