Job Vacancy: Newsperson (Australia & New Zealand Reporter) - Associated Press Location: Wellington, New Zealand Closing Date: 18th April 2024 The Associated Press seeks an enterprising reporter with a proven track record of developing sources and breaking stories. Based in Wellington or Auckland, this reporter will be responsible for coverage of New Zealand and the South Pacific and would help with Australia and wider Asia-Pacific coverage. Responsibilities: Reporting to the News Director for the Koreas, Japan and Australia/South Pacific, this reporter will work closely with AP colleagues throughout the region, aiming to consistently break news and produce distinct, deeply reported enterprise about a broad range of topics. This includes primary responsibility for coverage of New Zealand and Pacific Island nations, as well as supporting coverage of Australia. You will also be a key member of the wider Asia-Pacific regional reporting team, strengthening AP's reporting efforts throughout the region and beyond. In this role, you will primarily be a text reporter but will also be comfortable working in multiple media formats, with the ability to shoot video and photos, and verify and acquire UGC. The successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to work any shift, including at night and on weekends, or as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation.
