National Transport Manager

ContainerLink, is the transport division of ContainerCo NZ Ltd, one of New Zealand's leading independent shipping container storage and servicing businesses. We operate at ten strategic sites from Christchurch to Whangarei, serve the country's largest ports and are a key strategic partner to the world's largest names in shipping. As part of this our ContainerLink business is growing rapidly! This newly created role represents a fantastic opportunity for a manager to make their mark on our container transport operations. Our business is fast paced and requires a hands-on manager who can be flexible and adaptable as this role will be integral to our future success. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our transport operations across five key regions. Leading a team of dispatchers, company drivers & subcontractors you will ensure our customers requirements are front of mind in everything we do. You will be used to working in an ever-changing environment and feel comfortable making quick but methodical decisions. Key responsibilities: •Managing the day-to-day transport operations •Ensuring we are resourced sufficiently to undertake the daily tasks •Recruiting subcontractors and owner drivers to support both service and cost •Liaising with customers on their specific requirements •Taking the lead with internal and external stakeholder engagement •Covering dispatch as required •Ensuring our fleet is fit for work and meets all legal compliance requirement •Monthly reporting of key metrics Our ideal person will... •Have proven experience in a leadership role •A background in the logistics or transport industry •A balanced approach to problem solving and decision making •Ability to work under pressure, handling multiple projects at any one time •Be a quick learner, especially around technology Out of Auckland travel will be required from time to time.
