Details of the offer

Do you have an interest and/or background in music? Will you be available on Saturday mornings until December 2020?
We are seeking a student for our music education programme, Music Makers. Music makers is for children from the age of 3, in which they learn the essential skills of music making. Creative tuition methods use the student’s body and voice, as well as untuned percussion instruments. Elements of music theory are introduced, often in a game-like framework.
The Music Makers programme is organized in levels based on age and musical aptitude, with Level One being for children ages 3-5, Levels 2/3 for children ages 6-8, and Level Four being Young Voices, a choir for children ages 9-12. Children learn the principles of good singing – breath, posture, articulation, tone colour, intonation – and are introduced to rudiments of music theory. The WCSM Music Makers programme is based on the music teaching and learning principles of Carl Orff and Zoltan Kodály. The programme has been highly successful – many student move from the programme into WCSM instrument tuition classes with very positive results.
Our classes are located on the University of Waikato Hillcreast campus and held on Saturday mornings during primary school terms. The hours of work will depend on enrollments each term but levels 2 and 3 classes are about 2 hours.
The ideal candidate will require some tutoring experience and great communication skills. If this sounds like you, please apply now!
